What's in your bugout bag?
It's been called a go kit, 72-hour kit and a run bag, but a bugout bag is basically a container that includes enough supplies for at least three days. The purpose of this kit is to help you leave your home or workplace during a major emergency with at least enough necessities to be away for 72 hours (the time it usually takes to set up emergency or disaster recovery operations.) Whether for use in a military or civilian setting, your bugout bag should be packed and ready to go. Food and water should be checked on a timely basis and replaced when necessary.
Other than food and water, a typical "BoB" can include essentials like clothing changes, cash, important documents (identification, medical prescriptions), shelter and tools. If you are preparing a kit for your home, it's best to sit down and make a list of essentials you might need.
Molle gear: beyond the military
MOLLE (pronounced Molly) is an acronym used for tactical gear. MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment has become the standard in most military equipment. Some police departments still use the click and stick systems but many are changing over. You can recognize molle gear by the woven webbing that looks like a ladder, called PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System).
Molle gear was designed for military use and has become a popular load bearing system that more non-military manufacturers are adding to outdoor and camping equipment. Feel free to browse our site for the latest in MOLLE gear.
